Infinitopes Achieves LEAF Gold Award for Sustainable Laboratory Practices

In July 2025, Infinitopes was proud to be awarded the Laboratory Efficiency Assessment Framework (LEAF) Gold certification, recognising our commitment to embedding sustainability into our research operations. This achievement marks an important milestone in our ongoing efforts to reduce the environmental impact of our laboratories while maintaining the highest standards of scientific excellence.

The LEAF framework, developed by University College London, provides a standardised approach for assessing and improving sustainability in laboratory settings. Laboratories are benchmarked against best practices in energy efficiency, waste reduction, water conservation, and responsible procurement. The Gold award is the highest level of accreditation, reflecting sustained commitment and demonstrable impact across multiple dimensions of laboratory sustainability.

Reaching Gold was the result of collective effort across the Infinitopes team. Over the past year, we implemented a number of initiatives designed to reduce our environmental footprint, including:

• Energy efficiency measures such as optimising equipment usage, switching to low-energy devices, and carefully managing freezer inventories.
• Waste reduction programmes that improved segregation of laboratory plastics and promoted reuse wherever possible.
• Sustainable procurement practices, ensuring consumables and reagents are sourced responsibly and suppliers are aligned with our sustainability goals.
• Team engagement and training, empowering all staff to identify opportunities for sustainable practices in their daily work.

Achieving the LEAF Gold standard not only demonstrates our responsibility to the environment, but also aligns with our broader mission as a biotechnology company: to advance life-changing science in a way that supports the health of people and the planet. By embedding sustainability into our operations, we are building resilience, reducing costs, and helping to set an example for how research organisations can contribute to global climate and sustainability goals.

Looking ahead, sustainability will remain a central part of Infinitopes’ strategy. We are committed to maintaining our Gold standard and to exploring new opportunities to innovate further, from adopting cutting-edge green technologies to collaborating with partners across the sector to share best practice.
